Yes! We offer Status Card Renewals/ Replacements for Dependents aged 4- 15 years old; all of the following can apply: 

  • anyone who has Status themselves
  • those who are a parent, legal guardian or "other" to their dependent
  • those who are of a different nation to their dependent
  • those who have documents pertaining to their custodial guardianship

Our status card services are open to:

  • First Nations peoples in Canada 
  • Those who live in the U.S, and are from a Canadian First Nation 
  • You create a OneFeather Account with your email, and input your personal info and photograph 
  • We review your application to make sure everything is correct  
  • When this is complete you declare the application is ready 
  • You select an eligible guarantor, and they sign the application 
  • We receive the finished application and send it to Indigenous Services Canada 
  • There’s an approximate 13-17 weeks processing time for ISC. But due to the digital submissions being sent within 24 hours of completion, it can take less time! A live tracker can be viewed, so you can see real-time updates
  • You receive your status card in the mail

If you've had a name change, these are the documents that are required:

  • A government-issued photo ID with your new name on it
  • And any one of the following name-linking documents that links your former name to your new name: marriage certificate, divorce order or certificate, name- change certificate, or an amended birth certificate with your current name and name of your parents
  • You can use a cell phone camera, computer webcam or a digital camera
  • It needs to be of good quality- no blurs, dark shadows or grainy textures
  • Use natural lighting or put a light on
  • There should be a plain background behind you, your head and shoulders showing, and a neutral expression on your face (no smiling)
  • Reading glasses can be worn, but remove sunglasses
  • Do not wear hats (religious head coverings are allowed), or large earrings

If you cannot access any of the above cameras, go to the nearest Shopper’s Drug Mart or London Drugs and request a passport-style photo. You can get copies sent to your email.

  • Driver’s license 
  • Provincial health card 
  • Passport  
  • Current status card 

If it’s the Secure Certificate of Indian Status (SCIS), it cannot be expired over 12 months. If it’s the existing Certificate of Indian Status (CIS), it cannot be expired over 6 months.  

  • They must be at least 18 years old 
  • Have a status card (registry) number 
  • Reside in Canada or the U.S 
  • Have known you for at least 2 years 
  • Must be reachable via email for verification by Indigenous Services Canada  

Your guarantor will be notified by email when your application is ready for them to review and complete their Guarantor Declaration.

  • Crossing the Canada–U.S. border at both land and marine ports of entry (subject to border control officer's discretion)
  • Tax exemptions, in specific situations
  • Provides some non-insured health services 

The OneFeather team and Indigenous Services Canada are the only ones who will have access to your information, so it remains completely confidential within these parameters.

At OneFeather we process everything that’s sent to us. Our Support Team will let users know if they need to change/update anything to avoid delays. 

After that, we send the applications directly to Indigenous Services Canada where they review it all; making a decision on whether it is approved. You will find out via email if it was accepted; and receive the updated status card according to this. 

In the very rare case that it is rejected, you will be refunded and our Support Team will help (see below FAQ!). 

* Submitting in a digital format allows ISC to review it more speedily; as we send it within 24 hours of completion- which means that the Status Card gets to you faster! 

In the unlikely event that you are rejected by ISC (Indigenous Services Canada), we provide a refund and help you through the process if you want to proceed to try again. Our Support Team are here for you!
